Softball: The Mysteries of Divergent Dedication
Dear People,
Congratz to the 18 of 22 commits who risked everything on last week’s brazen 19-8 excursion into defiant aerobic excellence. In all candor, the sight of Jen trembling in terror as the incessant pre-game rains increased in both wettitude and tone left me deeply shaken, but in fact her very presence was what galvanized me to carry forward, no matter how many would ultimately succumb to the harsh climatic realities of malaria, swamp fever, and advanced cognitive mud rot.
Fortunately, the midday sun offered relief, succor and recreational mirth for all of us, although those four who failed to show must have soon felt repentant and unclean. Of course I’m not about to make judgements, cast aspersions or "expose" those who lacked the courage that everyone else somehow managed to muster. For one thing, that’s just not my style, and regardless, Ken, Jay, Greg and Darryl may have bailed simply to avoid the admittedly ghastly sight of the local river eel spawning in the puddles of shallow center left. Then again, the drizzly-pooh may have frightened them. I honestly don’t know.

In any case, I need to quickly conclude this because I have recently endured a horrific technology week and have little time to court you with my usual charm and good cheer. The hard reality is that the imbecilic motherboard that formed the core of my beloved iMac’s innards is now strewn like so much digital flotsam on some filthy repair shop floor, and while this obviously pisses me off, I will not give in to the insidious allure of despair---the way Ken, Jay, Greg and Darryl did last week. And therefore, there will be a game at Codorncies this Sunday at 11AM, IF I get enough commits by this Friday morning….Ray

Softball: Choice
Dear People,
There will be a game at Codornices this Sunday at 11, but unfortunately for those who dallied, it is now full. As always, feel free to contact me later for news of late cancels.
Please bring $2 for the field, which for this week only includes a complimentary post-match adventure of EITHER Yahoo-personals-speed-dating (casual dining w/ six dates over 30 minutes) OR a soothing round of intensive anesthesia….Ray 845-7552
