Softball: Strictly Non-Partisan

Dear People,

Congratz to all on last week’s somewhat less than dazzling yet still mirth-laden 22-15 exercise in majestic pre-election aerobic escapism. Although my own six trips to the plate resulted in the admittedly nuanced achievement of a .167 batting average, faint is the stench of individual ineptitude when braised whole in the tribal glory of victory itself.

In any case, let the record also note that Carolyn and Neil showed up to watch for the first time since the birth of their darling toddler four months ago, and thus the texture of the game was actually more vibrant and eternal, the lush field itself now serving as a clarion bridge between recreational generations. Indeed, as I paused to briefly look into Elijah’s tiny little baby eyes, I saw in his return stare both the piercing retina of a suckling determined to one day run, field, and bat with all the glory of his parents, and reassuringly, the sassy outlines of a gentle drool-filled smile that virtually cried out for the nullification of today’s electoral college results for every state between North Carolina and Texas.

Yes, as a childless and barren man, I still get chills when I think of the stirring precocity of today’s youth, and therefore, there will be a game at San Pablo this Sunday at 2PM, IF I get enough commits by this Friday morning…..Ray

Softball: Florida

Dear People,

There will be a game at San Pablo this Sunday at 2PM, and as of this moment, there are just two slots left. Please bring $1 for the field, which includes ample free parking, a delightful garden salad with braised peppercorn, and for this week only, my own post-game lecture on the emerging role of the Dyslexic-Jewish voting block….Raymond 845-7552

PS: As you know, I recently claimed that my team won last weekend’s match 22-15. Curiously enough, I have just completed a recounting of the official score based on carefully scrutinized game video, and as it turns out, I must now confess that we actually lost 98-3.
