Softball: Homeward Bound (With Initial Temporal Tweaks)

Dear People,

Chris Fure's team smothered my own on the Baryshnikovian pitching of Alan “Ballet Boy” Brill, 8-3. Once again, his suggestively sensual slider was clearly juiced with spit, yaw and Rond de Jambe en L'air (literally, airborne liver grease), but I still can't begrudge his hurlage of excellence. Moreover, he was a veritable rampart on the mound; For one frightful 7th-inning blast that was heading straight for his tender little forehead, the Brillster stopped the ball cold with a mitt that flew right off his hand and on to the ground beside him, and yet the orb itself stayed firmly encased in its rich leather webbing!! To be sure, it technically wasn't a catch, but it was an unusually stark reminder that rare is the frustrated batter who can KO a pitcher at the top of his game.

The point is that with the exception of the Brillopad, San Pablo #2's craggy infield clays and aphid-infested grasses have proven to be a communal ghost-laden minefield of ego-crushing despair. To name the most obvious examples, Alan Shabel is internationally known as this league's greatest all-time shortstop, and yet this past week he was a metaphorical sieve of his former self (or perhaps a mere shell of his normally vacuumesque form). Even worse, I personally failed to get cleanly on base, thereby continuing a pesky twelve-year hitting slump.
No, my friends, we weren't made for that inscrutable and haunted field, and I think you know that I know that we all undoubtedly know it. And therefore there will be a game at CODORNICES this Sunday at NOON, IF I get enough commits by this Friday morning…Raymond
