Softball: (Most) Girls Rock

Dear People,

Congratz to all on last week’s riveting come-from-behind 14-12 jubilee of world-class Braileball. While I suppose that Jeremy’s team could lodge an official protest on the grounds that no one could "see" after the 7th inning, I personally think that in the context of aerobiphysics, daylight, visibility and safety are totally overrated.

Regardless, my side’s triumph was a towering paragon of feminine firepower, with Kyra, Olga and Elaine proving to be our most fearsome and pivotal hitters. Even my dazzling sister Toni blasted three searing grounders, each and every one of them over two and half feet down the first base line!! Of course, I later explained to her that the English tongue’s rich panoply of logical connectors has evolved for a very good reason, and thus in her particular case, the victory we savored was less an issue of "thanks to" than "in spite of." She looked at me quizzically, and then beamed anew with pride, suggesting once again that my most pressing familial concerns are both athletic and cognitive.

The point is that it’s starting to get dark a lot earlier than any ethical deity should ever permit, but be that as it may, it’s simply not certain that we can do anything about it. Therefore, there will be a game at Codornices this Sunday at 4:00PM sharp (which for the record, is 30 full minutes earlier than 4:30PM), IF I get enough commits by this Friday morning….Raymond

Softball: 3:59 (Combating Human Nature)

Dear People,

There will be a game at Codornices this Sunday at 4PM, and as of now, there are still four slots left. Please note that in order to assure a full nine inning game, you need to arrive at 3:59, which is just like 4:16, except that it isn’t.

This week’s field fee is just $2, and that includes all taxes, whiskey and cigarettes…Raymond
