Softball: Another Shifting Border of Individual Potential
Dear People,
Anthony’s team whooped my own 18-13, and even worse, I was personally hunted down in a despicable 5th-inning pickle that left me tagged out, emotively shaken and in the end, perhaps unable to ever trust my fellow athletes again. I truly believe that you can’t appreciate the depths of this aeorbistential despair until you’ve experienced what I have—the desperate running to and fro, the swarming of enemy infielders from all sides, the incessant screams of “get the bastard!,” and perhaps most humiliating of all, the final trapping, flaying and ritual field dressing, as if I were nothing more than a feral Wasillian rutting moose stripped of my common humanity. In all candor, I was simply trying to get from 2nd to 3rd, and to have to go through all that just really pisses me off.
In any case, my team would’ve succumbed even if I hadn’t been so ruthlessly hounded, for Anthony’s contingent was propelled by a stunning display of Debbie’s POTZORé, which is not her much beloved linguine with kale and clam sauce, as yummy as that is, but rather her game-transforming act of Playing Outside The Zone of Reasonable Expectation (Just to be clear, this acronym is in no way related to Antonio Potzoré, the legendary 18th century Italian nudist).
The fact is that I always get chills when our players redefine the lens through which we view their greatness, and with the Debster’s blistering 300-foot double past Darryl’s discombobulated little head, the athletic world as we knew it changed forever. That she also ended up with another two singles, a walk and a guaranteed signing bonus only adds to the continued organic renewal of a communal roster that is unabashedly Potzoréesque itself—expectative, clammy and unabashedly nude. And therefore there will be a game at Codornices this Sunday at 10:30AM, IF I get enough commits by this Friday morning…Ray 845-7552

Softball: Forget Wall Street—A Local Hero on Stage Tonight!
Dear People,
There will be a game at Codornices this Sunday at 10:30ish AM, and as of now there are still five slots left. Please arrive absolutely NO LATER THAN 10:45, since I still can’t get a straight answer from the city as to whether or not our beloved homeland will be seized at 1:00 by that now familiar contingent of pre-pubescent adult-softball-hating gangsters.
This week’s field fee is just $3, payable in Euros, American dollars or Japanese yen, but due to developments beyond my control, I can no longer accept mortgage-backed credit default swaps until I figure out whether or not they’re sufficiently transparent, securitized and crunchy…Raymond 845-7552
