Softball: 9:45! (The Dynamics of a New Alliance)
Dear People,
Chris Fure's team baptized my own in a degrading industrial vat of highly-fermented ambush-ales, 15-12. I don't write this with scorn, but I do happen to think that that there was a fraying of the normal link between the quality of captainship-by-example and the final results, as most clearly seen by the Furinator's pathological base-running. The fact is that Chris stumbled into an utterly pointless 1st-inning suicide pickle, and just one inning later, he was picked off at 3rd while apparently exploring the chemical composition of the local baseline soils. Frankly, his early-inning behavior was a tone-setting counter-inspirational disgrace, and when you compare that to my own bases-loaded 2nd-inning four-and-1/2-foot RBI-rocket toward 3rd, I still can't believe we lost. Yeah, I guess we'll never truly understand the inscrutably capricious sparks of social galvanization.
The point is that life's random pageant almost never cleaves tightly to the basic human thirst for merit, justice and the Kantian ideals of unerring temporal consistency, and we need to accept that with the stout resolve that defines us as an exceptional aerobic people. In other words, the Albany-Berkeley Girl's Softball League will be seizing our sacred Codornices this Sunday at noon, but because one of our own is now a beloved duel-citizen-administrator of both leagues, I'd like to go on the record as saying that if I'm ever accused of having once referred to these beacons of young athletic hope as 'a cackle of pre-pubescent land-thieves,' I'll deny it with every fiber of my occasionally mendacious being.
Indeed, I think it's quite obvious that we and the ABGSL have always been natural-born allies, and I'm not saying that merely because we both play softball, we both cherish our yak-laden homeland, and, to a person, all of us in both communities love Froot Loops and Cocoa Puffs. In the end, it's all about respect, grace and the Kantian ideal of temporal flexibility, and therefore there will be a game at Codornices this Sunday at 9:45AM SHARP (which is just like 11AM except it's actually 75 minutes earlier), IF I get enough commits by this Friday morning . . .
