Softball: The Lessons of Routing
Dear People,
On a sizzling Bay Area morn' that evoked memories of the great Algerian Sahara in the Summer of '42 (Yeah-I like to frontload my cultural allusions without fear or favor), Anthony's team demolished my own, 26-12. The fact is that under the Antman's sagacious leadership, they pounded away at our outfield, callously exploiting gaps within our gaps and holes within our wholes. In short, they blended the power of DiMaggio's bat with the mystery of Heisenberg's quanta, and if it weren't for the mercy rule, they probably would've beaten us by twice what they did. Barbarians, all.
I can't tell you much more since I lost the score sheet again, but I do remember thinking that as temps climbed into the 90s, I was feeling both parched and disgraced. Now look, I don't use such language lightly and I certainly don't want to go all Nietzschesque on you, yet I do think that within the broader gestalt, feeling parched and disgraced is the very essence of what it means to be human. And therefore there will be a game at Codornices this Sunday at 11, IF I get enough commits by this Friday morning . . . Raymond
PS: The City of Berkeley insists that the Albany-Girl's Softball League has Codornices reserved all Sundays from last week until early November, noon to 5PM. However, I have sources within the ABGSL who insist that the city is delusional, and that there are only three Sundays over the next three months in which this will actually be the case (and this upcoming Sunday, like last week, is not one of them).
SO, even though our reservation this week is from 10 to noon, we'll start at the usual 11AM time, with the understanding that there is a 6.038% risk of our game being disrupted at noon by either rogue elements within the ABGSL or some other group that the city rented to even though they told me that the only group that has it is the ABGSL. Courage. . . .
PPS: Looking for a place to live?; Live with Nanci! Yeah, that Nanci, of the bitterly resented 'Nanci-rule.' In fairness, she's a lot more fun than her stupid rule . . .

Softball: The Clown Show
Dear People,
There will be a game at Codornices this Sunday 11, and as of now it is full. As always, please let me know ASAP if you committed and need to cancel, and if you still want in, feel free to get on the wait list or contact me later for news of reopened slots.
This week's field fee is just $4, and that includes copies of my proposed legislation to have Donald Trump's ego immediately deported to the Oxford University Center for the Study of Ammonia, Sulfur and other Emetic Gases . . . Raymond 845-7552
