Softball: Do it for the King (Because He no longer can)
Dear People,
We are STILL a few short of a necessary quorum for a game. This is not the time to succumb to your fears. Yes, there is a new 12 noon game time. Yes, there are a few extremely gentle guidelines that could limit the absolute range of your libertarian imperative, admittedly the psycho-emotional core of your very need for spontinaeity. But once again, it is Friday morning, and as we approach the 20th anniversary of Elvis' death, I imagine that it
goes without saying that had he partaken in a rigourous regimen of weekly softball-based aerobic exercise, we would be enjoying his cutting edge cinematic endeavors to this very day.
I think you see my point. Make that commit. Do it for the children. Do it for the Elvis films that were never made, not because the creative genius had run dry, but because he gave up softball in '73, and quickly clogged his pathetic little Mississippi arteries in the process. You think I'm making this up?! In 1982, Precilla herself told Newsweek, "When I look back on my father's life, I think the greatest tragedy was his decision to give up his weekly softball game in order to concentrate on both fine cinema and 12 tone composition in the Schoenbergesque tradition. Those were noble pursuits, but they weren't aerobic. The fact is, he never looked well after that."
Historical perpsective is a wondrous gift. Don't die sitting on a toilet at age 42. Make that commit. Do it now...Ray (845-7552)
