Softball: A Briefing on the Appearance of Kin
Dear People,
My team slathered Chris Fure's in another satisfying patina of pure organic loser-lotion, 19-17, and I'm not saying that just because I happen to think that self-plagiarizing is the shortest path to the lingering mellow buzz of unabashed writer's rush (Or perhaps I'm saying it precisely for that very reason-Truth be told, I'm just not that introspective). In any case, I'm delighted to say that our triumph reflected a roster in total sync with its gamut of disparate potential, for I know that you know that rare is the balance that triggers such mojo.
I initially refer you to Maya, of course, our slugger extraordinaire whose staggering 4th-inning grand slam to the thickly wooded tundra of deep center-right transformed the entire game. Indeed, we had entered the inning down by five and floundering, but we were clearly galvanized anew by the tragic spectacle of both Chris and Donny having to shoo off the local Bolivian forest gerbils in their frantically feckless attempt to find that pulverized orb. Now admittedly, we can all agree that such an aesthetically tragic fillip is best left unnoted, and yet the fact remains that not only did all four of our runners come scurrying home while giggling, but we added seven more runs that very inning!
I also refer you to Lawrence, the towering and spindly-legged New Yorker intellectual who happens to be my brother, and who, when all is said and done, was expected to function as the insidious anchor-like tumor of my entire contingent. And yet Ren did not taint, besmirch or even sully our fragile family name, and for that, I couldn't be prouder. In fact, he got on base twice, while his performance in right was a paragon of quasi-acceptable adequacy.
So yeah, it would've been awesome if he had blended his latest musings on the holistic aspects of consciousness with a four-bagger of his own, but he still did what he had to do, and in the end, that is all we can or should expect from family at its best-cohesive, loyal and nutso to the core. And therefore there will be a game at Codornices this Sunday at 11, IF I get enough commits by this Friday morning . . . Raymond
