Softball: The Craft of Allurage in Calculated Roster Renewal

Dear People,

My team beat back Byron’s 17-14, despite their terrifying quartet of power-smashing monsters (Matt, Frank, Stephano and the Byronator himself). Of course we were blessed to have Art on the mound and in our lineup, for even though he only shows up every few hundred years, rare is the blend of gentle hurlage and nuclear-powered hitting that can so dominate a match.

Truth be told, I happen to know that the Artster has finally gotten email and he’s now on this list, but I don’t focus on the greatness of an athlete just so that he’ll feel validated, frisky and inclined to join us more often. For one thing, that’s simply not my style, and regardless, I’m hardly claiming that he’s a “better” player than any of us (As you know, I simply don’t engage in speculative abstractions); All I’m saying is that his consistent presence would trigger a transformative rejuvenation of our basic aerobic rigor and end our athletic reputation as a regional basket case. That’s all I’m saying, and therefore there will be a game at Codornices this Sunday at 11, IF I get enough commits by this Friday morning…Raymond

PS: I’ll soon be in a strange and exotic land, far, far away, so don’t panic if I confirm your commits a bit later than usual. I’ll be back by Sunday morning—rested, revived and ready to rumble.

Softball; Stranded

Dear People,
There will be a game at Codornices this Sunday at 11AM, and as of now there are still four slots left.

Please bring $4 for the field, which for this week only includes a special post-game slide show on the sundry rats, marmots and other rodentia of my sister’s hideous Seattle abode…Ray 845-7552
