Softball: A Community of Stalwarts

Dear People,

My team crushed Jonny's 11-10, in one of those taut yet deeply sensual cliff-hangers that highlight the often obscured moral supremacy of one captain over the other. In fairness, though, his side may have prevailed if only Enid, who gave up just two runs in six innings, had not been forced to flee the game due to the shameless act of some two-bit punk ne'er-do-well who broke into her car.

The little bastard smashed a passenger side window, thereby terrifying her beloved little pit bull while triggering the auto alarm---a piercing siren of vehicular desperation that Enid instantly recognized from the pitcher's mound 100 yards away! Alas, neither Alan Miller nor Michael Tucker could fill her impeccable pitching shoes, proving once again that if your team's being trounced, there's nothing more effective than paying off some random pedestrian to break into the well-alarmed sedan of the opposing side's most vital player.

Actual moral of the story: You really shouldn’t leave backpacks or anything else of potential value exposed when parked near the field. I realize that the neighborhood is quite well-heeled (one of my favorite BS realtor’s terms), but just for the record, I believe this is the third such incident in the last year.

Of course we as an ancient aerobic people have always had to endure the consistent abuse of the broader softball-hating world, and yet we always persevere, no matter how many of our cars are vandalized or how many of our parks are occupied or how many of our players are blacklisted, quarantined or deported. And therefore there will be a game at Codornices this Sunday at 11AM, If I get enough commits by this Friday morning…Ray

Softball: Songs and Souls

Dear People,
There will be a game at Codornices this Sunday at 11AM, and as of now, there are still four slots left.

Please bring $3 for the field, which for this week only includes a special post-game concert in which I will personally conduct the winning team in an a cappella performance of EITHER Handel’s ‘Messiah’ OR Paul Anka’s ‘You’re Having My Baby’…Ray 845-7552
