Softball: Briefly Taking Stock
Dear People,
In a wondrous reflection of the dynamics, grace and chi of basic organizational renewal, Chris Fure's team gently throttled my own, 13-12. Losing by such a smidgen was wicked tough, but it was offset by the joy of knowing that a record four outsiders made their simultaneous league debuts, and when taken together, I believe that Hilda, Jeff, Martin and Jay played as if they were a catalyzing string quartet who were already firmly ensconced in the melodious bosom of our communal whole. Of course, let's not kid ourselves; Given the sheer breadth of the intensive clinical psychosis by which they were surrounded for nine long innings, I think we all know that we'll probably never see any of them ever again. It's harsh being us.
The point is that we're going to have to pretend that we're substantially less nutso than we really are in order to attract some vital new blood, for the challenges that we face as we drift into our institutional middle years are simply not going away. Indeed, we're still getting older and more jejune, annoying injuries abound, we're detested and mocked by both cricket and croquet players alike, the city is hostile, the press is indifferent, and perhaps worst of all, nearly 50% of you now believe that we won't even survive the century as a recreational folk. Perhaps, but I for one scoff at despair and intend to make a plan, and therefore there will be a game at Codornices this Sunday at 11, IF I get enough commits by this Friday morning

There will be a game at Codornices this Sunday at 11, and as of now there are still four slots left.
