Softball: The Pickle as a Failed Heuristic Tool
Dear People,
Frank’s team staved off my own 17-13, but that’s only because as we rallied hard and proud in the top of the 9th, we succumbed to a rare double outbreak of Runner Retard. If you’d be so kind, allow me to explain: With two on, one out, the tying run in the hole and the cream of our order arriving to bat, Mike Davey slammed a blistering grounder to short. Initially, Chris Fure and Jonny wisely held at 3rd and 2nd as Frank bobbled for control. Life looked good as the bases appeared to load, but then for some reason that I don’t pretend to understand, the Furenator needlessly took off for home with the ball still hot, live and just feet away. In all candor, it was a ghastly seen as he inevitably found himself darting back and forth in ever decreasing zones of spatial liberty—a mortally wounded, protein-rich Tanzanian river rhino who was now nothing more than dinner for 10. God, life is harsh.
Fortunately, we still had our pride, resolve and one more out on which to hang our hopes. Or so I thought. In reality, and in an inexplicable decision that was even more pointless than that just described, Jonny darted for 3rd at the very moment Chris was being tagged, flayed and butchered alive. Alas, by the time l’il Jon-Jon had gotten half way down the baseline, this cherished but towering symbol of game-ending decisional ineptitude was caught in his own swiftly imploding destiny—a second rhino de jour, and this time one whose ability to “learn” is apparently not much greater than your garden-variety cliff-bound lemming. Yeah, there’s nothing crueler than raw natural selection, and therefore there will be a game at Codornices this Sunday at 11AM, IF I get enough commits by this Sunday morning…Ray

There will be a game at Codornices this Sunday at 11AM, and as of now, there are still four slots left.
Please bring $3 for the field, which for this week only includes my personally written three-paragraph Wikipedia bio-entry for all players who hit just four or more homers…Raymond 845-7552
