Dear People,
On yet one more gorgeous and blustery East Bay day, my team rallied late and hard to anesthetize Chris Fure's on the last hit of a 10-inning resurrectionist masterpiece, 17-16. Once again, I felt privileged to witness such a taut paragon of competitive splendor, for indeed there was nary an errorage to behold, with the possible exception of Anthony's routine two-out 5th-inning ground-out to short, which was inexplicably transformed into a triple when Alan Shabel overthrew Paul Horsepool at 1st who overthrew Olga at 2nd who overthrew Frank at 3rd. Puzzling.
At the time, of course, it all seemed merely anomalous and unsightly, yet the Antman came home on the very next play, and thus for the Furinator's crestfallen contingent, that run would later prove to be the decisively unearned difference between aerobic triumph and tragedy. Of course the brutal implications of legal causation in sport are only apparent in hindsight (as opposed to the brutal implications of legal causation in tort, which are both instantly evident and tasty). Still, I think it's fair to suggest that at a minimum, Alan, Paul and Olga must delve deep into their own athletic souls and wonder if they were ultimately responsible for another one-run loss in Chris's precarious record of earnest yet cataclysmic captainhood.
I mention all this because I never take the venerable pillars of societal leadership for granted, and this is especially true as we prepare to fete the final days of William's betrothment to Kate. In fact, I still get verklempt thinking about the majestic inter-generational grace of this amazing House of Windsor, which I happen to think is the most robust line of Crownage since the Condo of Hanover collapsed in 1837. And no, I make no apologies for saying so.
The point is that I wasn't even going to organize a game this week so that we could truly imbibe the post-nuptial celebrations in all their royal, solemn and romantic glory, but then I happened to remember that as extant medieval institutions go, this one is clearly the most retardo of them all. And therefore there will be a game at Grove Park this Sunday at 4PM, IF I get enough commits by this Friday morning

Dear People,
There will be a game at Grove Park this Sunday at 4PM, and as of now there are still five slots left.
Please bring $4 for the field, which, because none of you are mere 'commoners' as far as I'm concerned, will include a pre-game post-nuptial feast featuring steak and kidney pudding with clotted cream, braised cottage pie and a seasonal selection of fine jellied eels
