Softball: Growth through Defeat
Dear People,
Congratz to all on last week's richly textured 19-5 manifestation of oddly stirring aerobic pulchritude. That it was successfully played out under the constant drumbeat of ever more threatening drizzle merely adds to the triumph of the communal whole, and ultimately transcends the somewhat unbecoming evisceration of the losing team.
In any case, and as you certainly know, this Sunday marks the 35th anniversary of the day that Houston Colt-45 pitcher Ken "Moose" Johnson pitched the first nine-inning no-hitter defeat in the history of professional baseball. The sting of that 1-0 loss to the Reds still sears my deeply held craving for athletic justice, and while I cannot reverse those facts on the mound, acknowledgment of Moose's suffering is only appropriate. Therefore, there will be a game this SUNDAY, April 18th, at 2PM, at Kleeberger North, IF I get enough commits by this Friday noon.
Please do not diss the Moosemeister, for I believe he's still alive, nursing the wounds of that fateful Spring day when the joyous harmonies of "I want to hold your hand" were so starkly juxtaposed against the harsh realities of athletic perfection denied...Raymond
