Softball: Shame and Reflection
Dear People,
As you can imagine, I feel the rage of 1,000 newly ensnared reticulated Bengali Pythons whenever the weather and muddled contingency plans conspire to crush our recreational dreams. Having not garnered the requisite commits necessary for football under the rain, I still let my lust for sport get ahead of the facts on the ground, with the end result being that at least one person traveled to Kleeberger for no reason at all. I alone must accept responsibility for this organizational Vietnam, and in so doing, I would like to announce that I am willing to tender my resignation and return to my beloved cottage in rural Bavaria, if you as a people so demand.
In any case, while awaiting the potentially blunt impalement of athletic democracy's verdict, I must confess that I happened to notice that this Saturday, March 20th, will be the 121st anniversary of the birth of Bill "Frosty" Duggleby, the legendary Philadelphia Phillies catcher who is the only person in the history of baseball to hit a grand slam in his first time EVER at bat (On April 21, 1898). I get teary-eyed just thinking about how proud his mama must have been, and in wondering what we can do to validate her maternal pride, I realized that I would be free this very weekend. Therefore, there will be a game this Saturday, March 20th, at 12 Noon at Kleeberger North, IF I get enough commits by this Friday morning. So make that commit. Do it for 'ol Frosty's mother, who saw on that storied Spring day an act of greatness that not only overshadowed the Spanish-American War, but has not been duplicated in the century since.....Raymond
PS: Please let me know if you'd play football if necessary, and in addition, if you don't think I have your phone #, you should send that w/ your commit.
