Softball: A Brief Rant on my Favorite American Nutjob

Dear People,

I know what you’re thinking. You’re thinking that as long as we’re going to get hosed every time there’s a little drizzly-pooh, can’t I at least do something useful and watch some more Fox News so that you don’t have to? I’m so totally there, and in fact, I might as well go rogue right now and just admit that historian Glen Beck’s recent programs on how Industrial-era progressives destroyed this great nation are simply too compelling to dispute.

Yeah, sometimes it takes a rain-out to cleanse the mind, but I’m with ya now, and like the Beckhole, I also yearn for a day when we’ll return to the Constitutionally Correct liberty of 1890s America—That halcyon era when Cy Young dominated the mound, Honus Wagner redefined power-hitting, and, because we still believed in freedom, slaughterhouses could employ 10-year old girls to produce worm-infested pork without the tyranny of big government and their despicable socialist regulations. In the meantime, though, I have a softball league to run, and therefore there will be a game at Codornices this Sunday at 11, IF I get enough commits by this Friday morning . . .Raymond

Softball: The Somewhat Curious Levels of Athletic Challenge

Dear People,

There will hopefully be a game at Codornices this Sunday at 11, and as of now, there are three slots still left. Once again, you will need to check email that morning since it’s going to rain between now and then, and my game of cat and mouse continues with certain interesting characters at the Berkeley Parks and Rec Dept.

Assuming it happens, this week’s field fee is just $4, and that includes my personal post-game symposium on how to become a professional curling sweep, with special emphasis on what makes a proper broom, the deeply misunderstood role of the hog line, and effective ways in which sweeps can best nurture a healthy and loving relationship with the team skip. In addition, and as an extra added bonus, I’ll preview my upcoming campaign to open up the 2014 Winter Olympics to both snowman sculpting and mahjong. . .Raymond 845-7552

Softball: Sunday 9:45AM: Gingerly Forward!

Dear People,

Codornices is totally playable and glorious but officially closed. SO, the game is a go, but please be aware that there are slight organizational risks that I’ll be dealing with between now and then. Also, I’ll be bringing a couple buckets, a shovel and a hoe (yeah, a dirty tawdry hoe), so if anybody would like to get there a bit early and help me with a couple infield puddles, that would be appreciated.
Courage/See you at 11/One slot still left!….Ray 845-7552
