Softball: The Nettlesome Convergence of Cosmology and Sport

Dear People,

My team crushed Chris Fure's 22-16, probably because Frank showed up an hour and 45 minutes late (not that I noticed). Curiously, this delay was the exact amount of time by which he had been tardy to that last Thanksgiving Dinner I had at Broh's, perhaps suggesting that despite his awe-inspiring mastery of virtually every practical skill set known to man—from stopping line drives at short to building computers from scratch to fixing any mechanical device on earth—he is still, rather ironically, a total chronological retard.

And speaking of time, after the game Chris and I continued our intermittent discussion on the annoying dilemma of how the Universe "began," and more specifically, what theoretically occurred before the beginning. Of course, Chris continued to insist that in accordance with the basic laws of thermodynamics, no physical object—be it a new softball, a chilled stein of buttermilk, or the universe itself— has ever had a beginning, but rather, has merely "always been."

In all candor, I think this showed a certain ontological chutzpah for a guy whose team had just been tossed into the dustbin of aerobic history, and indeed, I felt like slapping him. Instead though, I calmly pointed out that just because energy can neither be created nor destroyed and that physical matter is merely converted energy in a frisky form, that does not mean, for want of a more germane example, that "Frank has always been." I just don't buy that such unassuming innocence and youthful athletic vitality is technically over 100 trillion years old, and therefore there will be a game at Codornices this Sunday at 11, IF I get enough commits by this Friday morning…Raymond

PS: For the next several days I will be in a distant and exotic land, so please don't be frightened if it takes me longer than usual to ok your commits.
